Mrs. Stewart, 71, died Aug. 10, 2014, at Brook Manor Nursing Home. She was born on Jan. 6, 1943, to Howard and Helen Ozment.
She worked as a receptionist for the Hinds County D.A. and for many years she was an active member of Leavell Woods UMC in Jackson where she served as outreach chairman for her Sunday school class. She loved helping and serving others and more recently was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church.
She loved the Lord and her church. She sang in the choir for many years. Her smile was contagious, and she had such a “sweet, sweet spirit” and never met a stranger.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, Richard Dean Stewart.
Survivors are her sons, Richard Dean Stewart II and wife Lira, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Joseph Howard Stewart and wife, Whitney, of Germantown, Tennessee; her daughter, Cindy Stewart Nations and husband, Robin, of Brookhaven; her sister, Rosa Ozment Morgan of Orlando, Florida; and three grandchildren, Rachel Stewart, Caroline Nations and Grace Nations.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to her devoted caregiver, Tina Pennington.
