Natchez wins AAA Sub-District crown

GALLMAN – The Lincoln County 9&10-year-old Americans saw their dreams of advancing to toward State competition come to and end Wednesday night at Copiah Academy softball field.
The Americans suffered a disappointing 16-1 loss to the Natchez All-Stars in the Dixie Youth AAA Sub-District Six championship contest.
The Natchez All-Stars will advance to District Tournament and take on the winner of the McComb Sub-District Tournament in a best-of-three series. Those same two teams will also have an automatic spot in the State Tournament, which starts Friday, July 18 in Mendenhall.

The Natchez All-Stars came out ready and quickly overpowered the Lincoln Americans to secured a 4-1 advantage in two innings of work.
Although, Natchez looked well rested, the Americans refused to give up and fought hard defensively to keep the game close. Lincoln County threatened on several occasions to rally back into the contest as they managed to load the bases, but fell to send home those runners.
Natchez managed to increase their lead in the top of the fourth inning with three more runs and continued push runs across the plate in the fifth inning with a nine-run explosion to secure a 16-1 lead toward an eventual win.
Zeke Flattmann was the winning pitcher for Natchez with three strikeouts and two walks.
Will Mayfield absorbed the setback for the Americans with two strikeouts and one walk. John Rivers Brown (1K, 3BB), Jackson Carter (0K, 3BB) and Trenton Tarver (2K, 1BB) all saw action on the mound in relief for Lincoln County.
Piker Wallace was the top hitter for the American with a double. Hitting safely were Riley Easterling, Chase White, Trenton Tarver, Eli Smith and Grayson Childress.
Zehlin Cornett and Ronnie McMillian powered Natchez at the plate with a pair of singles. Mason Wells, Ethan Weadock and Braden Goldmon provided a double each. Zeke Flattmann, Paxton Junkin, Landon Lees, Joseph Garrity and Colin Cauthen hit safely.
