It has been a long and decorated road for Hoby Mullins, the senior from Roxie has enjoyed a season like no other by setting both school and division records for goals scored in a season.
Mullins will represent Franklin High tomorrow at 6 p.m. in the Mississippi North/South 3A/2A/1A All-Star Game held at Clinton High School.
The son of Jena and Tony Mullins, Hoby has carried that athletic Mullins bloodline to new heights this soccer season by scoring 43 goals in the regular season and 5 in the Jamboree (pre-season) for a total of 48 goals this year.
Mullins is a center-midfielder on the soccer field and an infielder on the diamond. Yes he’s a two-sport standout at Franklin High, in baseball and soccer. Two sports that he’s worked long and hard at getting better for years.
As generations turn, the Mullins family has always been known for their baseball roots. Tony was an All-Star in baseball, while his younger brother Brad set records on the diamond with sky rocketing home runs that are still talked about to this day.
Here lately, soccer has been the sport for this generation of Mullins. Hoby’s older sister holds scoring records at FC and a Junior College State Championship.
His cousins Zayne and Kin also have scored goals upon goals during their tenure.
Come Saturday Hoby’s hoping for one more strike at the net before he announces his college choice in the next few weeks.
His goal is to score a goal, something he’s done 48 times already this season.
