Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Kenton Mayfield Young of Brookhaven were Feb. 8, 2014, at Lakewood Funeral Home with burial in Lakewood Cemetery. Lakewood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Young, 98, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014. She was born Mary Elizabeth Kenton on August 31, 1915, in Warren County. She was subsequently adopted by Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Mayfield of Collins, Miss., in 1916. In her lifetime Mrs. Young was a devoted wife and mother.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Weatherford Swan Young, and son, Joe Kenton Young. She was a member of Heucks Retreat Baptist Church.

Mrs. Young is survived by four children, David Young of Jackson, Don Young of Brandon, Ann Collett (husband, Gene) of Raymond, and Les Young of Brookhaven. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Dallas Collett and wife, Tessa, (children, Cameron and Malcolm), Aimee Hudson and husband, Brian (children, Grant, Jack and Collett), Neal Collett and wife, Jamie, Lacy Young (son, Garron), Allen Young and wife, Bridgett (children, Katie, Joshua and Braden), Ashley Young and wife, Jari (child, River); seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
