Funeral services for Ruthie M. Havard Shiers of Natchez are 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Franklin Funeral Home with burial in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 from 5 until 9 p.m. and continues on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. at Franklin Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Marty Jackson, Lindsey Jackson, Ryan Smith, Todd Thompson and Byron Carnett.

Mrs. Shiers, 77, died Feb. 3, 2014, at Crown Health and Rehab in Natchez. She was born in Franklin County on Jan. 22, 1937, to William Wallace and Eva Graves Harvard.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Rochester “Chester” Shiers; brothers, Jimmy Havard and Wayne Havard; and son-in-law, Donald Clyde Smith.

Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Smith of Brookhaven; son, Billy Wilson and wife Janice, of Meadville; stepson, Chet Shiers and wife Donna, of McComb; stepdaughters, Cheri Shiers and Cindy Shiers, both of Byram; sisters, Barbara Corkern and Betty Smith, both of Wesson; brother, Willie Havard and wife Jo, of Roxie and Hilton Havard and wife Dee, of Summit; step-brother, Hershel Humes of Kingston; grandchildren, Marty Jackson and wife, Angie, Lindsey Jackson and wife Lelia, Lacey Smith and husband Ryan, and Emily Leonard; step-grandchildren, Todd Thompson, Justin Thompson and wife Leslie, Joel Shiers, Amber Shiers, Christin Phillips and Melissa Phillips; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
