A Monticello man has been arrested for aggravated assault in connection with the stabbing of a Lincoln County man during an altercation on the job Tuesday afternoon, said Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing.

Lee L. Baggett, 56, of Baggett Lane, Monticello, was charged with aggravated assault by Lincoln County sheriff’s officers Tuesday.

Baggett allegedly stabbed co-worker Daniel Merritt once with a knife after the two men got into an altercation at their Lincoln Lumber work place on County Farm Lane around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Merritt was taken to UMC hospital in Jackson.

Baggett is being held at the Lincoln County jail, and bond has been set at $25,000, said Rushing.
