Funeral services for Louise Nelson Lofton of Smithdale are 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Ramah Baptist Church in Franklin County with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lofton, 83, died Jan. 4, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Brookhaven. She was born in Enon, Miss. on Sept. 7, 1930, to the late Percy Nelson and Marie Stubbs King.

Mrs. Lofton was a homemaker and member of Arlington Baptist Church of Bogue Chitto.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy Nelson and Marie Stubbs King and Zelda Nelson; her husband, Troy Lofton; her granddaughter, Cala Malone; and two special aunts, Hazel Stubbs and Phara Wallace; and her grandson, Anthony Allred.

She is survived by four sons, Butch Lofton and wife, Shonna, of Smithdale, Ken Lofton and wife, Betty, of Bogue Chitto, Jerome Lofton and wife, Willie Faye, of Brookhaven, and Douglas Lofton and wife, Iva Pearl, of Smithdale; five daughters, Connie Porter and husband, Rickey, of Smithdale, Marcia Allred and husband, Glen, of Brookhaven, Janice Addison and husband, Donald, of Amite, La., Patsy Wallace and husband, Milton, of Brookhaven and Ellen Wallace and husband, James, of Bogue Chitto; one brother, Buddy Nelson and two sisters, Marion Frances Kennedy and Faye Knippers. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, Luke Lofton, Hope Martin, Missy Smith, Lisa Beeson, Mary Warren, Timothy Allred, Janet Dunaway, Donna Addison, Scott Addison, Jana Addison, Deanna Vail, Laura Wallace, Jami Wallace, Angie Griffin, Paula Linton, Lindy Sills, Nannette Clark, Renee Bilbo, Vicky Smith, Greg Lofton, and Steve Lofton; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
