Funeral services for Mamie H. Querns Hemphill of are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel, 894 Natchez Drive. Burial will follow at Heuck’s Retreat Baptist Church cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hemphill, 95, passed away Nov. 17, 2013, at her home. She was born in Brookhaven on Oct. 20, 1918, to the late Lonnie E. Herring and Ida Nordan Herring.
He was a homemaker and a member of Southway Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband, Frank G. Querns Sr., and her second husband, Willie F. Hemphill; an infant son lost at birth, Kenneth Eugene Querns; her brothers, Clarence Herring, Oscar Ray Herring, W. T. Herring, Versie Herring, James Herring, Prentiss Herring, and Mondell Herring; and her sisters, Neva Herring Allen and Mildred Herring Stokes.
Survivors are her two daughters, Frances W. Querns and Barbara Q. Breaux and her husband Dallas J. Breaux; one son, Frank G. Querns, Jr. and wife Debbie. She leaves nine grandchildren, Darren D. Breaux and wife Joy, Duane Breaux, Brooke Patendis and husband Tim, Frank G. Querns III and wife Stephanie, Kenneth E. Querns and wife Melissa, and Jason M. Querns. She also leaves nine great-grandchildren, Eleni Patendis, Nickoletta Patendis, Alexia Patendis, Derrick Breaux, Ashley Querns, Austin Querns, Gage Querns, K.J. Querns, and A. J. Querns.
