Mrs. Montgomery, 59, went to be with the lord on October 21, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her family. Mrs. Montgomery was born January 30, 1954 in Warsaw, New York. She was the daughter of William Joseph Hooper and Marie Agnes Scrubis.

Mrs. Montgomery went to heaven peacefully surrounded by her family. Even during her sickness she was always encouraging to others. She had a strong faith in Jesus that never wavered even in the last part of her time here on earth. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years and loved teaching “her babies.” She always had a smile and a laugh. She will be greatly missed by her family here on earth, but knowing she is enjoying herself in heaven makes it a little better. She was a member of New Life Apostolic Church.

She was preceded by her parents; her husband, Gordon Markette Montgomery and one sister, Elaine Edwards.

Survivors include three sons, Philip “Duke” Montgomery and wife, Leanne, Mark Montgomery and wife, Carlene and Neil Montgomery and wife, Holly all of Brookhaven; three daughters, Sherry Deloach, Christy Torrey and husband, Lance and Janie Etheridge and husband, Arlie Jr. all of Summit; two brothers, William Hooper and wife, Susan of San Leandro, Calif. and Richard Hooper and wife, Carol of Bastrop, La.; one sister, Sally Freeland of Bastrop, La.; 12 grandchildren, Jaci Montgomery, Timmy Montgomery, Marcy M. Ball, Arie Grace Montgomery, Austin Montgomery, Shelbie Montgomery, Brianna Stephens, Conner Torrey, McKenna Torrey, Alex Torrey, Christian Etheridge and Morgan Etheridge; two great-grandchildren, Gauge Montgomery and Ayva’Ann Marie Cooper and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
