Curtis ‘Buddy’ Cotton

Graveside services for Curtis “Buddy” Cotton of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Rose Hill Church Cemetery with the Rev. David Carr officiating. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 3 until 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Cotton, 91, died Oct. 5, 2013, at Countrybrook Living Center. He was born in Lincoln County on March 24, 1922, to Curtis Cotton Jr. and Pawthene Deshazer.

He was retired and a veteran of U.S. Army, World War II. Preceding him in death were: his parents; wife Goldie Cotton; daughter, Frances Cotton Earl; and a sister, brothers, nieces and nephews.

Survivors are his loving daughter, Diane Washington and husband, Teddy; devoted granddaughter, Denise Jointer and husband Fred of Wesson; granddaughter, LaMesha Nobles and Barbara Taylor of Detroit, Mich.; grandson, Teddrecius Washington and wife Tamesha.

He was loved and admired by great-grandchildren, Fernandria Byrd, Tydaisha Washington, Samaiya Byrd, and Teddyrecius Washington II. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; life-long friends James and Annett Tribble of Joliet, Ill., and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
