Motorcycle crash leaves one man dead

A Brookhaven man was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident Monday after he lost control of his motorcycle, spun off the road and hit a tree less than a mile from his residence, said Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris.
Heath Tatum, 38, was returning home for the weekend after a trip to Houma, La., when he crashed his 2006 Harley Davidson Monday afternoon. The accident occurred near a curve in the road on California Road just off I-50, said McMorris.
Lincoln County EMS responded to a 9-11 call at 2:23 p.m. After arriving at the accident scene, they pronounced Tatum dead at 2:39 p.m.
No other vehicle was involved in the accident.
