Funeral services for Marcell Murray Brister are 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive, with burial in Wellman Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brister, 82, of Bogue Chitto, passed away Aug. 7, 2013 at Golden Living Center-Brook Manor in Brookhaven. She was born Jan. 5, 1931 in Franklin County.

She was retired from Auburn Sportswear and formerly worked at Stahl-Urban, where she was a supervisor. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church, where she served as WMU director. She was also a member of LLL, Lincoln Coral and KDMC Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, working in her yard and watching sport games, especially her favorite team, the Atlanta Braves.

Preceding her in death were her husband, John Enoch Brister, her parents, Jeffie and Denie (Snyder) Murray, and her siblings, Bertha Mae Cummings, Rosa Lee Murray, Gladys Ratcliff, Bessie Hall, Alfred Murray and Loyd Murray.

Survivors are her daughters, Jerolyn McCullough and husband, Lennis, of Brookhaven, and Gwen Tardo and husband, Rickie, of Bogue Chitto; grandchildren, Jody McCullough, Mark McCullough and wife, Kelly, Candice Sumrall and husband, Billy, and Devin Tardo; great grandchildren, Ashton and Skyler McCullough and Gunner Sumrall; brothers-in-law, W. C. (Bill) Brister and wife, Jo, and W. S. Smith; and sister-in-law, Emma Godard and husband, James.

The family would like to thank the staff of Brook Manor Nursing Home and Hospice Ministries, along with Margie Rogers and Joyce Pennington for the special care shown to their loved one.
