A home going celebration for Eddie E. Pope Sr. of Brookhaven will be held Monday, July 29, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul M.B. Church. The Rev. Phillip Sterling will officiate the ceremony, and the burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brookhaven. Visitation hours will be from 2 until 5 p.m. on Sunday at R.E. Tyler Funeral Home.

Mr. Pope was born Sept. 8, 1954 in Leland. He was the son of the late Dorothy Powells and the late Fred Cook. He attended Mississippi State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in industrial arts in 1975. Mr. Pope devoted 27 years to the Brookhaven School District as an educator. He served his students by teaching and sharing his passion for building trades.

Mr. Pope, 58, died at his home. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Constance Pope; his adored children, Tamara Pope and Eddie Pope Jr. and wife, Teedra; and his grandson, Elijah Pope, whom he was very proud of.
