Purvis plays Lawrence County in Dixie Youth Majors finals

HATTIESBURG – Unbeaten Purvis meets Lawrence County tonight at 6 in the championship finals of the Dixie Youth Baseball Major League State Tournament at Larry Doleac Youth Sports Complex. Purvis eliminated Hattiesburg’s Americans 14-5 and Lawrence County ousted the Lincoln County American League All-Stars 6-3 Wednesday as the rain-delayed, double-elimination tournament reached the final round.
In the Dixie Youth AAA State Tournament at Magee, Clarksdale and Corinth meet in an elimination game at 6 tonight after McComb drew a bye to the 8 p.m. McComb edged Purvis 7-6 last night.
Corinth handed Clarksdale its first loss Wednesday night, winning 10-3.
Lawrence 6, AL 3
Marquez Hudson pitched Lawrence County past Lincoln County. He held the Americans hitless, striking out 6 batters and walking none in relief. Peyton Little (1K, 0BB) started the game and was lifted in the top of the second after giving up 5 hits and 3 runs.
Brandon Bullock picked up the save. He fanned 6 batters and allowed 1 hit, walking none. He hit a 2-run, first-inning homer.
There was a 45-minute rain delay in the third inning.
Dane Smith went the distance for Lincoln County. He struck out 14 batters, walked 3 and gave up 6 hits.
Lawrence County got 2 hits apiece from Bullock and Hudson. Oliver Moreman singled and Landon Trott doubled.
Lincoln County got a double from Krishawn Jackson. Singles came from James Beard, Landon Gartman, Rials Hester, Jon Hilbert and Keegan Smith.
Coaching the Lawrence County team are Damond Ready, Josh Bullock and Scott Doster. There are only 34 players and 3 teams in the DYB Lawrence County League.
