HOOVER, Ala. – Two-time defending national champion Alabama, along with Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel dominated Southeastern Conference Media Days. In a vote of 243 media members, the Crimson Tide was picked to win the SEC Championship again.
Coach Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide had the most fist-team selections on the Preseason All-SEC Team with seven. Since 1992, the most players on a first-team were nine by Alabama in 2011. Alabama (2010) and Florida (2009) each had eight first-team selection.
The top two vote-getters were linebacker C.J. Mosley of Alabama and defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney of South Carolina. Since 2000, Arkansas’ Darren McFadden is the only unanimous selection to the SEC Media Days Team, collecting all 80 votes.
Mississippi State was represented on the First Team by offensive lineman Gabe Jackson. Linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche represented Ole Miss on the First Team defense.
Alabama was a heavy favorite to win the SEC Western Division. Texas A&M was second, LSU third, Ole Miss fourth, Auburn fifth, Mississippi State sixth and Arkansas seventh.
In the Eastern Division, Georgia was picked to repeat. South Carolina was second, Florida third, Vanderbilt fourth, Tennessee fifth, Missouri sixth and Kentucky seventh.
