Sebastopol boots Lady Bears

SEBASTOPOL – The Sebastopol Lady Bobcats held off West Lincoln 10-9 Saturday in the second round of the MHSAA Class 1A state softball playoffs and eliminated the Lady Bears, despite giving up 18 hits. Sebastopol won Thursday’s game 7-5 at West Lincoln.

“We stranded 10 runners in the game,” said West Lincoln coach Andrew Redd. “We had plenty of hits. We just didn’t get the timely hits.”

His team was 3-up and 3-down in the seventh.

Sebastopol advances to the South 1A semifinals and plays Nanih Waiya.

The Lady Bobcats got 3 singles from Brantley Conans. Morgan Leach singled and doubled. Abby Winstead tripled.

Malori Hall was the losing pitcher. She gave up 10 hits, struck out 2 and walked 4.

Three Sebastopol pitchers combined for 3 strikeouts and no walks. They gave up 18 hits.

West Lincoln (15-14) got a home run and 2 singles from third baseman Heather Moak. First baseman Bentley Sills singled twice and doubled. Hanna Moak also had a double and 2 singles. Layton Sills and Destiny Allen both singled and doubled.

The Lady Bears got 2 singles from Brianna Fauver. Collecting a single were Micah Redd, Katie Hester and Hall. Hester is the only senior on Coach Redd’s squad.
