Funeral services for Ruth Elizabeth Cole Cowart-Dale, of Monticello, are 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Monticello Baptist Church, with burial in Masonic Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cowart-Dale, 93, died Dec. 6, 2012, at Lawrence County Hospital. She was born on Feb. 8, 1919, to Robert Armstrong Cole and Mary Alexander Denson Cole.
All people knew Ruth as “Grandma.” She graduated from Silver Creek High in 1936 and from Copiah-Lincoln Community College in 1938. She attended The University of Southern Mississippi for a year. She was a past Grandmatron of the Eastern Star of Pascagoula. She was a member of First Baptist Church Pascagoula for 42 years, moving to Monticello Baptist Church in 1981. “Grandma” was very active. She played the piano and sang and was a talented seamstress and cook. She loved her children but GREATLY loved her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Gayden Earl “Nub” Cowart and John S. Dale; son, Larry Edwin Cowart; and brothers, Alex Cole, James Edward Cole and Charles Cole.
Survivors are her daughter, Betty Gayle Flowers and husband, Mac, of Monticello; daughter-in-law, Donna Smith and husband, Kenny, of Gautier; grandchildren, Gayden and Steve Moreman, Alex and Bobby Selman, Kathleen and Chad Smith, Madison and Lynette Flowers, Suzanne Martin, Larry Cowart, and Lana and Benny Watts; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chad Smith, Madison Flowers, Larry Cowart, David Shivers, Charlie Cole, David Bass, Alton Moreman and Jacques Martin.
