John David Edwards

John David Edwards, 70, of Wesson, and formerly of Vicksburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 1 p.m. until a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Services in Brookhaven.
Mr. Edwards was born Feb. 2, 1942 in Hazlehurst. He was the son of Dudley and Jamie Bonner Edwards. He was a graduate of Hazlehurst High School and attended Whitworth College in Brookhaven. He was a retired supervisor of records in the Detective Bureau at the City of Vicksburg Police Department. He retired in 1995 after 29 years. During a recent reunion of the retired Vicksburg Police Department, his co-workers referred to him as their mini computer because of his excellent memory of cases that he worked on before the days of the computer. He was recognized by Sheriff Warren Pace of Warren County, regarding his work in the Detective Bureau. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. John will be missed by his family and many friends and co-workers. He was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid horseman and loved the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lois Edwards Kruger.
Survivors are his wife, Barbara Reeves Edwards, of Wesson; daughter, Shellie Edwards Brand and husband, Gary, of Wesson; sisters, Lucy Edwards Bomicich and husband, E.H., of Hazlehurst, and Pat Edwards Hudson and husband, Bill, of Atlanta; brother-in-law, Bob Kruger, of Atlanta; and two grandchildren, Dillon Brand and his girlfriend, Lily, and Dalton Brand, of Wesson.
