Funeral services for Nita C. Washington, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Mt. Wade M.B. Church, with burial in Carver Heights Cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

     Visitation is Friday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

     Mrs. Washington, 85, died Oct. 13, 2012 at her home. She was born in Brookhaven on May 10, 1927, to Abe Brown and Bernice Wright.

     She was a 1942 graduate of Alexander High School. She was retired, having worked at Brookhaven Steam Laundry, Burgess Cleaners and for Dr. Breeland. Mrs. Washington was a member of Mt. Wade M.B. Church.

     Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Sam Wright, Willie Frank Wright, L.B. Brown and Artis Brown; sisters, Elizabeth Hill, Tane Amos, Lavada Brown and Ardell Amos.

     Survivors are her husband, R. Landus Washington; and sisters, Roberta Brown Young, of Hanford, Calif, and Catherine Stewart, of Los Angeles.
