Funeral services for Oscar H. Rushing, of Bogue Chitto, are 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive, with burial in Johnson Grove Church of Christ Cemetery.

     Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

     Mr. Rushing, 72, died Sept. 20, 2012, at his home. He was born in Lincoln County on Jan. 11, 1940, to Clarence W. Rushing and Zula Bell Roberts Rushing.

     He was a retired carman with Illinois Central Railroad and Amtrack for 31 years. He was a member of Gum Grove Baptist Church and of the Bogue Chitto Masonic Lodge Number 0260. Mr. Rushing served in the Korean War with the U.S. Army.

     Preceding him in death were his father; mother; brothers, Allen Rushing and Elwin “Punk” Rushing; and father-in-law, Howard Richardson.

     Survivors are his wife of 49 years, Virginia Richardson Rushing; daughter, Veronica Edmonds, of Brookhaven; son, Bryan E. Rushing, of Bogue Chitto; grandchildren, Justin Ryan Smith, Brandon Evan Rushing and Austin Tanner Edmonds; great-grandchild, Graelyn Isabella Rushing; sisters-in-law, Marlene Dunn Rushing, of Bogue Chitto, Jenette Travis, of Meadville, and Rebbecca and Tony Owens, of Bakersfield, Calif.; brother-in-law, Clyde and Peggy Richardson, of Gautier; mother-in-law, Gladys Pepper Richardson, of Brookhaven; three special nephews, Doyle Rushing, Darell Rushing and Darren Rushing; aunt, Loney Sykes, of Brookhaven; and a host of nieces and nephews.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Johnson Grove Church of Christ, 665 Auburn Drive SW, Brookhaven, MS 39601.
