Funeral services for Mary Montee Rudder McEwen, of Bogue Chitto, are 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service, with burial in Bogue Chitto Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. McEwen, 90, died Sept. 13, 2012, in Brookhaven. She was born in Mississippi on June 27, 1922, to Marvin Denon Carlisle and Della Lee Smith Carlisle.
She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Her greatest achievement was being a Christian wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Before she became too ill, she loved game day with the “Widow Women’s Club” in the Pleasant Hill community.
Preceding her in death were her father and mother; stepmother, Vivian Carlisle; husbands, J.K. “Pee Wee” Rudder and Greer Benton McEwen; brother, J.D. Carlisle; sisters, Lina Mae C. Brister and Lois Marie C. Barlow; and one great-grandson, Asa Rudder.
Survivors are her son, John Kenneth “Ken” Rudder Jr. and wife, Rhonda, of El Dorado, Ark.; daughters, Glenda Sue Robison and husband, Jerry, of Summit, and Jeanette Welch and husband, Kent, of Bogue Chitto; stepdaughter, Gloria Ann Thames and husband, Tommy, of Ruth; brother, Kenneth Carlisle, of Wesson; sisters, Barbara Rutledge, of Brookhaven, and Theda Brister, of Enterprise; nine grandchildren, Johnny Rudder, Kevin Rudder, Keith Rudder, Chad Robison, Ricky Welch, Teresa Crosby, Corey Welch, Laura Martin and Rachel Martin; four step-grandchildren, Andy Thames, Angie Mercier, Alan Thames and Amy Close; 18 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; special niece, Della Savage, who she thought of as another daughter; and beloved friend, Marie Wallace.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
