Funeral services for Jo Frances Nettles Boyd Meadows, of McComb, are 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Union Primitive Baptist Church in Ruth, with burial in the church cemetery. Elder Randy Myers, Elder Mickey Myers and Elder Wayne Myers will officiate. Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

     Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church.

     Mrs. Meadows, 87, died Sept. 13, 2012, at her home. She was born in Walthall County on Nov. 10, 1924, to Joe and Jessie Rushing Nettles.

     She was a homemaker and a former member of the homemakers club and worked a number of years at McComb Manufacturing. She loved to cook and was well known for her wedding cakes and wedding cake decorating. She was a graduate of Carter’s Creek High School and was valedictorian of her class. She was a longtime member of Union Primitive Baptist Church in Ruth and at the time of her death, was the oldest living member.

     Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, Dewey F. Boyd; second husband, James Meadows; three brothers and their wives, Nelson and Marie Nettles, Bruce and Earline Nettles, and Robin and Maxine Nettles; three sisters and their husbands, Ruth and John Young, Marjorie and J.C. Touchstone and Neva and Elvie Touchstone; and a stepdaughter, Joan Mangum. 

     Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Delloris and Ted Rhodus, of Tylertown; sons and daughters-in-law, Glynn and Elizabeth Boyd and Mike and Sandra Boyd, of Ruth; brother and sister-in-law, Clem and Essie Nettles, of Jayess; stepson, Lozon Meadows and wife, Sue, and their family; stepdaughters, June Schmidt and husband, Joe, and their family, and Ramona McCann and husband, Bob, and their family; special friend, Peggy Parsons, of McComb; ten grandchildren and spouses, Kim and Mike Moak, Bradley Boyd, Richie and Stacey Boyd, Shanna and Chris Moulds, Richard Townsend, Sarah and Billy Reeves, Thomas Boyd, Marianne and Dorman McDonald, Rolna and Chris Anderson, and Ron and Lydia Rhodus; six step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     Pallbearers will be Ron Rhodus, Brad Boyd, Hunter Boyd, Thomas Boyd, Richie Boyd and Richard Townsend. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Touchstone and Seth Touchstone.
