Funeral services for Dixie Jean Smith, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive is in charge of arrangements.

     Visitation is Sunday from 5 until 10 p.m. at the funeral home.

     Mrs. Smith, 79, died Aug. 31, 2012, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was born in Brookhaven on March 3, 1933, to Winfield and Essie Smith Wallace.

     She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

     Preceding her in death were her parents.

     Survivors are her husband, Truly Earl Smith; daughters, Tammi Smith and Robbi Pickering and husband, Barry, all of Brookhaven; two grandchildren, Blake Pickering and wife, Nicole, and Libbi Hobkirk and husband, David; one great-grandson, Caden Hobkirk; brother, Landon Wallace and wife, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
