Emitt N. Greer

Emitt N. Greer went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a prisoner of war for six months in Belgium and a Purple Heart recipient.

     He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne Nelson Greer and wife, Elizabeth, of Brookhaven, and Buddy Greer and wife, Jan, of Pineville, La.; one daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte Volking and husband, Scot, of Livingston, La.; daughter-in-law, Jean Greer, of Magnolia; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Rose Hatley Greer; parents, Sam and Lydia Greer; son, Harold Greer; and grandson, Billy Joe Greer.

     He was a resident of Livingston, La. and a native of Jayess. He was 90 years old. Mr. Greer was a devoted father and pawpaw and will be missed by all who knew him.

     Visitation will be on Friday, May 4, at Seale Funeral Home in Livingston, from 5 until 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday, May 5, at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb from 10 a.m. until funeral services at noon. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the cancer charity of your choice or First Baptist Church of Livingston building fund.
