Louis “Tuck” Byrd

Funeral services for Louis “Tuck” Byrd, of Brookhaven, were 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

     Mr. Byrd, 94, died March 24, 2012, at his home. He was born on July 28, 1917, to James Monroe and Beulah Herring Byrd.

     He was in the timber business and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

     Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Gladys Watts Byrd; and three brothers, William Byrd, Clinton Byrd and Charles Byrd.

     Survivors are his sons, Cortez Byrd and wife, Barbara, of Brookhaven, and Bruce Byrd and wife, Mary Davis, of Wesson; six grandchildren, Terry Byrd and wife, Liz, Tonya Stewart and husband, Gary, all of Brookhaven, Patricia Carter, of Bradenton, Fla., Pamela King, of Wesson, Sophie Adam and husband, Timmy, of Wiggins, and Sissy Martin, of Mandeville, La.; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two caregivers, Irene Calcote and Thelma Calcote.

     Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund and hospice of your choice.
