Dora Katherine Gallent Regel “Miss Dodye,”89, a native and resident of Amite County died Monday, Oct. 10,2011, at Field Memorial Community Hospital in Centreville. She wasborn on Sept. 7, 1922.

    Visitation will be at Newman Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 11, from6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday at Thomson MemorialPresbyterian Church from 10 a.m. until religious services at 11a.m, conducted by the Rev. Eric Greene and the Rev. Jeff Hamm.Interment will be at Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery, withservices conducted by the Rev. Eugene Case.

    “Miss Dodye” is survived by three sons, Carl Martin Regel and wifeSherry, Clifton Llewellyn Regel, all of Centreville, and MillerGallant Regel and wife, Melody, of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; twograndchildren, Sara Regel Windham and husband, Curtis, ofCentreville, and Anna Regel Harrison and husband, Clipper, or PortAllen, La.; two great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Bieker and AbigailFaith Bieker; two sisters, Cynthia Gallent Morris and husband,Richard, of Baton Rouge, La., and Carolyn Gallent Reed ofMendenhall; one sister-in-law, Jo Hollingsworth Gallent, ofCentreville; one brother-in-law, Paul V. Dixon, of Summit; andnumerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl William Regel;parents, Clifton Nathanial and Mary Alice Hazlewood Gallent;brother Clifton Norman Gallent; sister, Margaret Hazel GallentDixon; and brother-in-law, James Reed.

    Dora Katherine attended Mississippi State College for Women andLouisiana State University and was a retired teacher.

    Pallbearers are Alvin “Brother” Wilkinson, the family’s right-handman; nephews, Richard S. Morris Jr., Dedric G. Morris, Allan W.Morris, and Cliff Gallent; Dr. R.J. Field III and Dr. ThomasLobrano.

    Honorary pallbearers are Elders of Thomson Memorial PresbyterianChurch, Dr. R.J. Field Jr., Joe Brian, Buddy Lewis, M.H. Hughes,and Henry Darden.
