Lady Cats capture Region 7-1A

JACKSON – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats came alive in the fourthquarter to overwhelm the West Lincoln Lady Bears 62-47 in the girlschampionship and capture their second straight Region 7-1A titleFriday night in the Mississippi School of the Deaf and BlindGymnasium.
In the girls’ consolation game, the Sebastopol Lady Bobcatsovercame a sluggish first half to prevail 45-34 over the NatchezCathedral Lady Green Wave.
The opening round of the MSHAA South State 1A Playoffs is set tobegin with the girls’ games on Monday. The Lady Cats will host theMount Olive Lady Pirates. The Lady Bears will entertain the DexterLady Bulldogs. Sebastopol will visit Sacred Heart and Cathedralinvades Salem. All games are set to tip off at 7 p.m.
West Lincoln will conduct a special ceremony for the seniors, bothgirls and boys, Monday night at 6 p.m.

Basketball fans filled up the MSD gymnasium to watch a classicbattle between two strong girls teams as Bogue Chitto and WestLincoln put on a show. They battle back and forth throughout thewhole game before the Lady Cats managed to take control in thefourth quarter by outscoring the Lady Bears 19-10.
The Lady Cats (27-1) were led by three players in double figures.Senior guard Aneshia Dillon pumped in a game-high 21 points.Tesheon Rogers contributed a double-double with 13 points and 13rebounds. Josie Porter chipped in with 13 points.
“This was a hard-fought game for both teams,” said BC Coach ChristiTerrell. “West Lincoln is well-coached and they came ready to play.Overall, we missed a lot of easy baskets in the first threequarters before pulling away in the fourth. I am very proud for thegirl and the efforts they gave.”
Senior forward Katie Mullins knocked down a team-high 15 points tolead the Lady Bears (15-11). Karli Herrington netted 12 points.Beth Montgomery was the leader on the boards with 8 rebounds.
“We played very well in the first three quarters, before runningout of gas in the fourth,” said West Lincoln coach Lane Young.”Bogue Chitto played a tough game. Aneshia Dillon played her bestgame tonight that I have seen in the four years she played with theLady Cats.”
Sebastopol 45, Cathedral 34
Senior guard Katarina Pace pumped in a game-high 13 points to leadthe Lady Bobcats (17-9).
The Lady Green Wave (8-12), coached by Bernita Dunbar, received ateam-high 11 points from junior guard Ginny Daggett.
