Juanita ‘Nita’ Adcock

Services for Juanita “Nita” Adcock were held on Saturday, Feb.5, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel inMeridian, with Dr. Raymon Leake officiating. Burial was in MagnoliaCemetery.
Visitation was Saturday from 1 p.m until 3 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mrs. Adcock, of Meridian, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at RushFoundation Hospital. Nita was born in Lincoln County to the lateWilena and George Wactor. After high school she attended Draughon’sBusiness School in Jackson and began work for Travelers InsuranceCompany as a screener and rater in Jackson, where she met herfuture husband Jerry. After her marriage to Jerry Adcock she stayedat home with her children. Jerry’s career took the family toJackson, Brookhaven, Florida, Greenwood and Jerry’s hometown,Meridian. Nita loved all the places they lived. Mrs. Adcock was amember of Beta Sigma Phi, Museum of Art, Newcomer Club, GreenwoodGarden Club and a bridge club. She enjoyed working with the youthin Jacksonville and Pensacola, Fla. Nita was a member of FirstBaptist Church of Meridian.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Adcock; her children, LindaSpivey Pillow and husband Bob of Madison, Todd Adcock and wifeJennifer of Brookhaven, and Leigh Adcock Pittman of Starkville;grandchildren, Mary Todd and Clark Pittman of Starkville, DanielSpivey and wife Rachel of Jackson, and Sam, Robert and Sarah ToddAdcock of Brookhaven; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Harrison andCarlisle Porter, and Lydia and Barnabas Spivey, all of Jackson; hersisters, Jane Scott of Brookhaven, and Gloria Alston of McKinney,Texas; sister-in-law, Katherine Wactor of Brookhaven; and numerousnieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, George T. Wactor, ofBrookhaven.
The family requests that memorials be made to Nita’s beloved FirstBaptist Church of Meridian.
Pallbearers are Daniel Spivey, Clark Pittman Jr., Sam Adcock,Robert Adcock, Bob Pillow Jr., Rob Pillow III, Harrison Porter,Carlisle Porter, Barnabas Spivey, Bruce Scott and GregoryAlston.
