Etienne paces Lady Wolves; Dolphins upset Wolves

NEW ORLEANS – The No. 9 ranked Copiah-Lincoln Community CollegeLady Wolves overcame a sluggish start to defeat the Delgado LadyDolphins 66-63. The Lady Wolves improve to 10-1, Delgado falls to3-10.
After a 23-day layoff from the holidays, Co-Lin struggled in thefirst half only scoring 22 points and trailed by 7 in the firsthalf. They found their range in the second half shooting 57 percentfrom the field.
Kiara Etienne paced four Lady Wolves in double figures with 17points. Paige Webster, making her first start of the season, pouredin 14 points and led off the boards with 8 rebounds. Brandi Simmonsscored 13 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. GG Williams chipped in12 points.
Freshman Raven Holmes led the Lady Dolphins with 15 points.
Co-Lin travels to Utica to take on the Hinds Lady Bulldogs in SouthDivision action on Monday. Tip off is at 6 p.m.
In men’s’ action, Freshman Richard Bienvenu came off the bench toscore 15 points to lead the Delgado Dolphins to a 68-57 win overthe Wolves in a non-division contest. Co-Lin falls to 5-6 on theseason.
The Dolphins took a 31-23 lead into the locker room at halftime andnever looked back. The Wolves pulled to within 2 in the secondhalf, but could never overtake the Dolphins. Co-Lin was outrebounded 48-28.
Marcus Hooten led the Wolves with 18 points. Freshman Jamal McCoyhad his best game of the year scoring 17 points. Ernest Wafer ledoff the backboards with 7 rebounds.
Adding support for Delgado was Jauries Thomas with 12 points.Darrell Williams and Renard Smith chipped in 10 points apiece.
