Bobcats, Bears provide sweep

BOGUE CHITTO – The West Lincoln Bears and the Bogue ChittoBobcats took care of business and made a clean sweep for LincolnCounty Thursday night in the BC Tournament Classic Tournament atR.L. “Bob” Calhoun Gymnasium.
In the early games, the Lady Bears edged McLaurin 43-41. Inboys’ game, West Lincoln crushed the Tigers 88-68.
In the nightcap, the Lady Cats pounced on McLaurin for a 77-29victory. In the boys’ game, BC out clashed the Bulldogs to take a65-51 win.
West Lincoln and Bogue Chitto resume action Saturday starting at4 p.m., with the Lady Bears playing Prentiss and the boys willfollow.
BC plays McLaurin in the nightcap with the girls starting at 7p.m. immediately followed by the boys.
W. Lincoln 43, McLaurin 41
Karli Herrington pumped in 13 points and 5 rebounds to lead theLady Bear (2-4). Katie Mullins grabbed 9 rebounds and netted 9points.
“We played well in spurts,” said West Lincoln Coach Lane Young.”We managed to make some shots in the first half to get ahead andheld on to the lead to the end.”
Ariel Wilson sacked a game high 17 points and collected 6rebounds to lead the Lady Tigers. Cynterial Fairley provided 12points.
W. Lincoln 88, McLaurin 68
Jay Case sinked in a game high 27 points to lead the Bears. WestLincoln (6-0) had three other players to hit double figures, whichwere Maurice Jackson 16, Jared Case 11 and Calvin Kees 11.
“We played a very sloppy first half,” said Young. “McLaurin dida very good job attacking the goal and we did not play defense verywell.”
“In the second half, we managed to get the lead and stay out upfront to get the win. We still have plenty of room to improveon.”
Victor Price was the leading scorer for the Tigers with 26points.
Bogue Chitto 77, Prentiss 29
The Lady Cats had five players to score in double digits withJosie Porter leading the charge with 14 points. Darcy Miller added13 points. Ashley Bickham provided 12 points. Tearon Rogerscontributed 11 points. Aneshia Dillon netted 10 points. Rogers andBickham crashed the boards and collected 10 rebounds apiece.
BC out scored Prentiss 30 to 8 in the second quarter to take a48-22 lead into halftime.
“Our girls hustle and played hard tonight,” said BC coachChristi Terrell. “It was a good night for everyone. Our youngerplayers managed to get some experience and playing time.”
Saberia Walker was the top scorer for the Lady Bulldogs with 8points.
Bogue Chitto 65, Prentiss 51
Emmanuel Magee led the Bobcats in scoring with 19 points. Healso collected 7 rebounds, 3 steals and had 4 assists for thenight, Javier Gee provided 12 points, 3 steals and 6 assists. ColbyJohnson crashed the boards grabbing 11 rebounds.
“Our guys played hard and hustle the whole game,” said BC CoachJeremy Harrell. “We had a sluggish first quarter but we made someadjustments to start the second quarter and battled back to capturethe lead before halftime. I am very proud of the guy’s effort tobattle back.”
Justin Powell was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs with 11points.
