Police probe Sunday burglary at restaurant

Brookhaven police are investigating the weekend burglary of aBrookway Boulevard restaurant, said Chief Pap Henderson.

Henderson said employees of Popeye’s reported the incident at 8:14a.m. Sunday after coming in to work. There was no evidence offorced entry into the store.

“There was no evidence of any burglary until they went in,”Henderson said.

Once inside, workers found the handle to an office door was brokenand the store’s safe was taken. It contained an undetermined amountof money, Henderson said.

“It was taken sometime after 1 a.m., according to the nightmanager,” said Henderson, mentioning the time the manager left forthe night.

Henderson said there are no suspects in the case and it remainsunder investigation.
