Lady Panthers win two games in WL tournament

The Brookhaven Lady Panthers lost to Franklin County’s LadyBulldogs 4-2 in Thursday night slowpitch softball action. But theLady Panthers managed to take two of three games in the WestLincoln Tournament Saturday afternoon.
Brookhaven crushed the McComb Lady Tigers 11-1 in the first game.In the second game, BHS fell to Bogue Chitto Lady Cats 1-0. In thefinal game, the Panthers rolled over the Lady Bears of West Lincoln7-1.
“Overall, we had a good day,”said BHS head coach Lisa Covington.”We did not do a good job against the Bobcats, but we managed tohit the ball better against West Lincoln.
Brookhaven has rescheduled a make-up game against Franklin Countythat was rained out. The Panthers will travel to Meadville to playthe Lady Bulldogs Tuesday. Game time begins at 5:30 p.m. withJunior varsity, followed by varsity at 7 p.m.

Brooke Hosick absorbed the loss for the Panthers, collecting nostrikeouts and no walks.
Christen Benson led Brookhaven with two singles. Erica Bridwell,Madeline DeLaughter and Erica Lenior hit safely.
The Bulldogs got singles from Allison Hauver, Toni Robinson, LaylayGriffin, KeKe Collins, Destiney Dedeaux, Mildred Starks, KenyatteHunt and Emily Cothren.
In JV action, BHS cruised by Franklin County 10-5.
Alycen Speaks and Ivy Smith led the Panthers with two singlesapiece. Shelby Case, Mandy Jackson, Taylor Murray and KatherineShell hit safely.

Hosick (1K, 0BB) was the winning pitcher for Brookhaven.
Layten Mobile (0K, 1BB) absorbed the loss for the LadyTigers.
Bridwell provided the offensive spark for BHS, collecting threesingles. Benson also contributed to the flames with a double and asingle. Sarah Ayers, DeLaughter and Hosick provided two singleapiece. Emily Freeman, Dana Herring, Rashana Stewart and Lenior hitsafely.
McComb got singles from Kaylin Conney, Brianna Talbort andMabile.

Kerri McGehee (0 K, 0 BB)was the winning pitcher for Bogue Chitto.Hosick (0K, 0BB) absorbed the loss for BHS.
Darcy Miller and Josie Porter led the offensive attack for theCats, providing a double and a single apiece. Mattie Avants, BradiDavis and McGehee hit safely.
Brookhaven collected singles from Shelby Peavey and Ayers.

Hosick (0K, 1BB) authored a strong pitching performance forBrookhaven.
Jessica Franklin (1 K, 1 BB)absorbed the loss.
Lenior led the way for Brook’s offense with a double and twosingles. Bridwell contributed with three singles. Peavey andHerring also provided two singles apiece. Hosick, Ayers andDeLaughter hit safely.
Karli Herrington and Marissa Pruski were the leaders for WestLincoln with two singles apiece.
