Myrtis Laird Bass, 95, of McComb, died Aug. 11, 2010, at McCombExtended Care. She was born in Lincoln County on Sept. 29, 1914, tothe late Prentiss S. Laird and Bertha Snyder Laird.

Mrs. Bass was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 69 years,Hilton Bass; and two brothers, Earl Laird and Frank Laird.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine Steeleand Clem, and Joyce Johnston and Jimmy, all of Smithdale; her sonand daughter-in-law, Aubrey H. Bass and Dean, of Bogue Chitto; hergrandchildren, Dewayne Bass, Gary Bass, Greg Bass, Justin Bass,Wanda Hart, David Steele, Dennis Steele, Jerry Welch and JanetWatson; 16 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; andtwo great-great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Thursday, Aug. 12, from 5 until 9 p.m. atHartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb, and from 10 a.m. until thetime of the service at 11 a.m. on Friday. Interment will follow inthe Johnson Grove Church of Christ Cemetery in Bogue Chitto at 1p.m.
