NATCHEZ – On a hot, humid night, the Lincoln County Nationalsbeat Wesson 18-4 in five innings as the Dixie Youth Baseball AAA 9sSubdistrict Six Tournament continued at Duncan Park.
The Nationals are undefeated in the double-elimination tournamentand meet Wesson again tonight at 7. According to the tournamentbracket, the two teams with byes must meet again.
Natchez beat the Lincoln County Americans 15-12 last night andadvances to Saturday’s finals. Game time has not beendetermined.
Rials Hester was the winning pitcher in relief of Collin Britt whostarted on the mound. Hester stuck out eight batters and heldWesson hitless in 3.1 innings.
Dane Smith pitched one inning of relief.
The Nationals finished with 16 hits and Wesson only had two.
“Our boys have hit the ball well and they are playing gooddefense,” said Lincoln Nationals head coach Billy O. Britt. “Theyare a good group to coach.”
On the first pitch of the game, the Nationals’ James Beard hit aleadoff solo homer over the fence. Beard also tripled andsingled.
Dane Smith hit an inside-the-park homer. Krishawn Jackson went4-for-4 with two singles and two doubles. Sam Adcock doubled. SlayAcy tripled. John Hilbert doubled and singled. Britt singled twice.Keegan Smith and Peytin Jergins singled.
Wesson’s Malik Brown tripled and Ethan Gladden doubled as theygained a 3-3 deadlock in the first inning. Brown was the losingpitcher and he was replaced by Lane Thompson the firstinning.
The Nationals took a 4-3 lead in the second inning and plated sixmore runs in the third. A 7-run fifth ended the game with the10-run mercy rule.
Natchez 15, Americans 12
Natchez rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fifth toeliminate the Americans last night.
Natchez had lost 16-6 to the Nationals Wednesday night.
