Wesson wallops Lady Bears

WESSON – Christina Fink homered and singed twice Monday night tospark the Wesson Lady Cobras to a 15-4 non-division fastpitchsoftball win over West Lincoln’s Lady Bears. Wednesday, Wessonvisits Madison St. Joe for 2 games, beginning with the juniorvarsity at 5 p.m.
In Thursday’s games, West Lincoln visits Salem and McComb invadesWesson for a doubleheader. The junior varsity games begin at 5 p.m.followed by the varsity at 6.
“We hit the ball well,” said Wesson head coach Jackie Johnson.”We’ve got to play batter on defense and cut out the errors (four).But we will take the win.”
West Lincoln committed five errors.
“It took us a while to get started,” said West Lincoln coach AndrewRedd. “We should hit the ball better but we had a couple of goodinnings.”
Posting the win was Mak Rials (7K, 2BB). Abbey Smith (2Ks, 1BB) gotthe save. Micah Redd (2K, 5BB) took the loss.
At the plate, Macie McQuage followed Fink with two doubles and asingle. Ripping a home run and a single was Abby Smith. MarleyMcCardle and Summer Rials each doubled and singled. Mak Rialssingle twice. Doubling was Claire Whittington. Shauntay Walker hitsafely.
Redd led the Bears at the plate with a double and a single. MarisaPruski, Haley Ainsworth and Katie Mullins singled.
Junior varsity action
Wesson collected a 7-0 win over West Lincoln. Singling for theBears were Peyton Mullins and Malori Hall.
