James Wendell Lewis, 64, of McComb, died Feb. 16, 2010, at hishome, surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Lewis was born Dec. 8,1945, in Walthall County to J.C. and Helen Owens Lewis.
He was the owner of Hillside Grocery and Service for many years andworked at Dickerson and Bowen Inc. as the McComb plant shopforeman. He was a vital part of his sons’ company, Lewis WreckerInc. and enjoyed being there daily after his retirement. He was amember of South McComb Baptist Church.
Mr. Lewis is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, IldaGay Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rita Martin Lewis, ofMcComb; three daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Tommy Young,Mikki and Kerry Prine, and Suzi Johnson, all of McComb; two sonsand daughters-in-law, Ricky and DeLene Lewis, and Marti and ShannonLewis, all of McComb; his sister and brother-in-law, Eloise andPaul Etheridge, of McComb; three granddaughters, Samantha Johnson,Stephanie Prine and Jayci Johnson; eight grandsons, Ethan Young,Aaron Lewis, Zac Lewis, Blake Brock, Jay Johnson, Barron Lewis,Corbin Johnson and Joey Prine, all of McComb and numerous family,nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation is Wednesday, Feb. 17, at South McComb Baptist Churchfrom 5 until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until services at 10a.m. with the Rev. Brent Rutland and the Rev. Ron West officiating.Burial will be in Pike Memorial Gardens, with Hartman-SharkeyFuneral Home in McComb in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers are Ricky Lewis, Marti Lewis, Jeff Etheridge, TommyYoung, Kerry Prine and Albert Johnson. Honorary pallbearers areMilford Etheridge Paul Etheridge, Ben Etheridge, Bobbie Martin,Junior Wilson and Andrae Miriaya.
