Residents’ power restored

Lincoln County’s three primary power companies reported nooutages Wednesday morning after extreme cold put hundreds of peoplein the dark early Tuesday.
Entergy Customer Accounts Manager Kenny Goza said power has beenrestored to approximately 350 customers around the West Lincolnarea after they experienced an outage Tuesday morning, and a smalloutage Tuesday night has also been repaired. All of Entergy’s 8,400customers in the county had power Wednesday morning, he said.
“Yesterday ended up being a load imbalance because everyoneloaded up the system,” Goza said. “We got that all fixed to ourknowledge. We’re all good.”
Entergy’s sporadic blackouts Tuesday caused minor brownouts forSouthwest Electric Power Association customers in northern PikeCounty and extreme southern Lincoln County, said company publicrelations director Azalea Knight. She said blinkage was correctedTuesday morning and all of the company’s 3,600 county customershave power.
“Sometimes when Entergy has a problem it will back into ours,”Knight said.
No Southwest EPA outages were reported Wednesday, Knightsaid.
Likewise, a minor outage for Magnolia Electric Power Associationcustomers in northern Pike County and extreme southern LincolnCounty has been repaired, said member services director Lucy Shell.The outage affected around 30 people, and all of the company’s8,400 county customers had electricity Wednesday morning.
All three power companies are functioning normally, and allthree are making the same preparations for extreme coldtemperatures and possibly winter precipitation expected to moveinto the area by Thursday.
“We’re on alert and ready,” Shell said. “The trucks are ready,crews are on alert and contract crews are on standby.”
