Services for Ellary Quinn Bates, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Saturday, Sept. 5, at Mt. Wade M.B. Church in Brookhaven withburial in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from noon until 5 p.m. at R.E. TylerFuneral Home with family present from 6 until 7 p.m. at thechurch.

Mr. Bates, 50, died Aug. 27, 2009, at the University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in Brookhaven onFeb. 24, 1959, to Leroy Bates and Lucille Hill Bates.

He was a construction worker.

Preceding him in death were his brothers, Willie, Jules andTurone Bates; and a sister, Deborah Bates.

Survivors are his parents; his wife, Yvonne “Bonnie” GipsonBates, of Brookhaven; his sons, Larry Stapleton, of Atlanta, Ga.,and Corey Lewis, of Florida; his daughters, Latisha Funches, ofMonticello, and Angelia Nelson, of Brookhaven; his brothers, PaulBates, of Hazlehurst, Terry Bates, Moses Bates, both of Brookhaven,Jerry Bates, of Crystal Springs, Robert Bates, of Madison, andDarryl Bates, of Brookhaven; his sisters, Annie Bates, of Calif.,Minister Evelyn Rawls, Bessie Evans, both of Brookhaven, BeverlySmith, of Jackson, and Sharon Smith, of Union Church; and his fourgrandchildren.
