Enterprise ambushes BHS Lady Panthers

Enterprise capitalized on three Brookhaven errors Tuesday nightand ambushed the Lady Panthers 5-4 in slowpitch softball action atEnterprise. The unbeaten (3-0) Lady Yellow Jackets scored twice inthe bottom of the sixth and took a 5-3 lead.

“Two big defensive players we had helped us a lot in the seventhinning,” said Enterprise coach Steve Sasser. “Our defense is ourbread and butter. We’ve got to hit the ball.

“Brookhaven is the best hitting team I’ve seen so far.” His teamovercame 6 errors.

Enterprise finished with 7 hits, led by Kolbi Lewis and LaceyOrr who singled twice. Chynna Coghlan, Sarah Burke and Ashley Greersingled.

Orr (1 K, 0 BB) was the winning pitcher.

Brooke Hossick (2 Ks, 1 BB) absorbed the loss as the LadyPanthers (0-3) remained winless.

“I was proud of our team for not giving up and bouncing backagainst a good Enterprise team,” said BHS coach Lisa Covington.

Stevie Wright, Madeline DeLaughter and Roshanna Stewart sparkedOle Brook’s 10-hit attack with 2 hits apiece. Emily Freemandoubled. Kristen Benson and Desiree Benson singled.

The Lady Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning.Enterprise used a 3-run fourth to lead 3-1.

In the JV game, Brookhaven posted a 6-3 victory as Emily Freemanpitched the win.

The Lady Panthers got singles from Carlee Ballard, Heather Daw,Katie Grace Culpepper and Molly Allen.

Enterprise got singles from Stephanie Grammar, Nicole Creel,Kristen Jergins, Markie Case, Lauren McCafferey and KaylaBritt.
