Flora Jean Calcote Byrd
Services for Flora Jean Calcote Byrd, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Thursday, June 4, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Brookhavenwith burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service in Brookhaven.
Mrs. Byrd, 71, died June 1, 2009, at Mississippi Baptist MedicalCenter in Jackson. She was born on April 15, 1938, to Cade VernonCalcote and Mary Bernice Smith Calcote.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Grove BaptistChurch. Mrs. Byrd was Women’s Missionary Union director at PleasantGrove Baptist Church for many years. Her greatest accomplishmentswere being an outstanding Christian wife, mother, mother-in-law andgrandmother.
Preceding her in death were her father, Cade Calcote; herhusband, James “Jamie” W. Byrd; and her sisters, Raye Calcote andJanice Saterfiel.
Survivors are her mother, Bernice Calcote; her sons, Kevin Byrdand wife, Carla, and Karl Byrd and wife, Dana; a daughter, MaryKaren Case and husband, Jason; her brothers, Mike Calcote and wife,Cheryl, Charles Calcote and wife, Cathy, and Chester Calcote andwife, Cheryl; a sister, Linda Faye Seymour and husband, Jerry; amother-in-law, Aline Byrd; her brothers-in-law, Jerry Byrd andwife, Betty, Keith Byrd and Ken Saterfiel; a sister-in-law, BarbaraRobinson and husband, Jerry; and her 10 grandchildren, Julie Case,Jay Case, Jared Case, Jena Case, Kody Byrd, Aaron Byrd, KarltonByrd, Will Byrd, Matt Byrd and Alexis Byrd.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or PleasantGrove Baptist Church building fund at 2162 Old Highway 84 West,Brookhaven, MS 39601.

Jimmy Ray Shanahan Jr.
Services for Jimmy Ray Shanahan Jr., of Hazlehurst, are 2 p.m.Wednesday, June 3, at Westside Baptist Church in Hazlehurst withburial in Gallman Cemetery. Community Funeral Services is in chargeof arrangements.
Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church withfamily present at 4 p.m.
Mr. Shanahan, 41, died May 31, 2009, in Copiah County. He wasborn in Jackson on Nov. 21, 1967, to Jimmy Ray Shanahan Sr. andMary Jo Buckley Shanahan.
He was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of ParkhillBaptist Church in Jackson.
Preceding him in death was his father.
Survivors are his mother; a special friend, Charlotte Johnson,and her children, Chandler and Chance Johnson; his brothers, JoeShanahan, of Hazlehurst, Jeff Shanahan, of Jackson, and JeremyShanahan, of Rockport; a sister, Sommer Erwin, of Hazlehurst; and anumber of nieces, nephews and friends.
John Steve Smith
Services for John Steve Smith, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Wednesday, June 3, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel inBrookhaven with burial in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mr. Smith, 85, died June 1, 2009, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. He was born on Jan. 8, 1924, to Charlie SteveSmith and Ollie Mae Watts Smith.
He was a retired salesman working at McLane Southern for 41years. He served during World War II. He was a member of EasthavenBaptist Church. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars andwas also a Mason.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Charlie Steve Smith andOllie Mae Smith; his sons, Billy Steve Smith and John CarrollSmith; his brothers, Willie Smith, Jessie Smith and Ernest Smith;and his sisters, Wisie Smith and Lou Mae Hammonds.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Lou Case Smith; a son, Ronald GlennSmith and wife, Stephanie, of Mendenhall; a daughter, Regina LynnTaylor and husband, Kenneth, of Long View, Texas; a brother, HaroldSmith; a sister, Ruby Carlisle; his nine grandchildren; and his 15great-grandchildren.

Cathy Loraine White Edmonds Taylor
Services for Cathy Loraine White Edmonds Taylor, of Richton,will be held at a later date. Riverwood Family Funeral Service isin charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Taylor, 37, died May 30, 2009, at Forrest General Hospitalin Hattiesburg. She was born on Sept. 23, 1971, to Joe A. White andMelanie Fesgen.
She was a painter. She was a member of Tangipahoa Baptist Churchin Amite County. Mrs. Taylor loved her children dearly.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Ed Taylor; and asister, Lisa Claudell White.
Survivors are her father, Joe A. White and stepmother, Pug; hermother, Melanie Fesgen; her sons, Joseph Keith Edmonds and JoshuaO’Neal Edmonds, both of McComb; her daughters, Anah Faith Edmondsand Miranda Fay Edmonds, both of McComb; a sister and half sister,Lori Christine Porter and Angela DeAnn Evans, both of Louisiana; ahalf brother and stepbrother, Joe A. White II and Randal Pinell,both of Louisiana; and a grandmother-in-law, Barbara Edmonds.
