Man in fair condition after Wednesday shooting

A Brookhaven man is in fair condition at the University ofMississippi Medical Center after being shot following a Wednesdaynight altercation, authorities said.
Brookhaven Police Chief Pap Henderson said Dontrey Walker, 18,of 515 Independence St., was shot in the street in front of hisresidence Wednesday around 8 p.m. following an argument with hisattacker.
“We know there was an altercation at another location onIndependence Street, and they ended up at his residence,” Hendersonsaid.
Witnesses at the scene said they heard between four and fiveshots ring out at the time of the shooting, and officials saidWalker sustained at least two gunshot wounds.
Officials said Walker was shot in the chest and in the jaw areaand was transported from the scene by ambulance from King’sDaughters Medical Center. From there he was airlifted to UMC.
Henderson said the argument between Walker and the shooter, whopolice declined to identify, was over something personal from whatauthorities can tell.
Henderson said police have spoken to witnesses and have alsospoken to family members of a suspect they believe to be involvedin the shooting.
“We haven’t located him yet, but we do know who we’re lookingfor,” Henderson said. “We do have a main suspect we want to talk toabout this incident.
More information will be released as the investigationcontinues, Henderson said.
