Services for Margarette B. Mark, of Brookhaven, were 11 a.m.Saturday, Jan. 10, at Kynette Pilgrim United Methodist Church inBrookhaven with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Mark, 79, died Dec. 31, 2008, at her residence. She wasborn in Brookhaven on Nov. 20, 1929, to Cammie Butler and Josie MaeGreen.

She attended Alexander School and received her bachelor’s degreein education from Alcorn State University. She attended XavierUniversity in New Orleans, La., and received her master’s degree ineducation.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, JessieJaRue Mark; and a sister, Rosie Smith Houston.

Survivors are a brother, James Smith, of Lynwood, Ill.; and hersisters, Marie Patton and Elise Mae Cross, both of Brookhaven; hernieces and nephews, Willie W. Smith, Rochelle Mackabee, ConnieSmith, John Lewis, Eddie Johnson and Marcella Bates, all ofBrookhaven, Jamie Smith, of Atlanta, Ga., Tracey Smith, of Gurnee,Ill., and Anthony Cobb, of Marina, Calif.; her special friends,Rose and Robert Grindsteadt, of New Orleans; and a host of greatnieces and nephews.
