Wildcats bruise Co-Lin

WESSON – Pearl River Community College shot the lights outMonday night and Co-Lin didn’t. That resulted in the PRCC Wildcatsblowing out the Co-Lin Wolves 81-58 in Mullen Gymnasium.
“Co-Lin had a poor shooting night against us,” said PRCC coachRichard Mathis. “I didn’t expect to beat Co-Lin by 20 points. Wedefended well.”
The Wolves shot a cold 34 percent from the field compared toPRCC’s 67 percent. Co-Lin was just 5 of 27 from 3-point field goaldistance.
Offensively, the Wildcats (13-5, 4-2) were directed by freshmanguards Timothy Ware with 20 points and Rob Little with 19. Ware isfrom Memphis and Little is from Moss Point.
“It was a physical game and Pearl River was able to push usaround,” said Co-Lin men’s coach Dennis Sims. “Pearl River pickedup the tempo and we didn’t respond. We got physically beat in allphases of the game.”
A 21-point performance by Trent Hutchin directed Co-Lin. RobWallace added 13 points and Lewanski Newsome 11. Newsome was beston the backboards with 9 rebounds.
As a team, Co-Lin (9-10, 3-3) was outrebounded 29-22. Leadingthe Wildcats on the backboards were B.D. Ratliff and Donta Smithwith 8 rebounds apiece.
