Wallace lifts Wolves

WESSON – Guard Rob Wallace sank a game-winning layup with twoseconds left to play and the Co-Lin Wolves edged NortheastCommunity College 60-59 Monday night in Mullen Gymnasium. Wallace,with 11 points, was one of four players in double figures as theWolves avenged an 81-57 loss to the Tigers at Booneville, Dec.13.

Co-Lin (7-7) resumes South Division play Thursday night atSouthwest in Summit. Tipoff is 7 p.m. in Horace C. HolmesGymnasium.

Offensively, the Wolves were paced by Torrian Sanders who tossedin 17 points. Gerald Bass added 13 points. Trent Hutchin andWallace each scored 11 points.

“Gerald Bass and Torian Sanders were a big help for us becauseour main players got in foul trouble,” said Co-Lin men’s coachDennis Sims. “Sanders did a good job pushing the ball and gettingit to Wallace for a chance to shoot at the end.”

Co-Lin built a 10-point, 36-26 halftime lead. The Wolves shot ahot 51 percent from the field. Lewanski Newsome made 5 assists.

On the backboards, Co-Lin was led by Sanders who had 5 rebounds.He also had 7 steals and 4 assists. The Wolves caused 23 Northeastturnovers.

“We fought hard to get back in it,” said Northeast coach DavidRobbins, describing his team’s comeback. “We had a chance to win itbut we didn’t defend at the end.”

The Tigers (7-6) were paced by Andre’ Southern’s 18 points.Southern is a 5-10 guard from Yazoo County. William Burdette, a 6-2sophomore from New Albany, tossed in 17 points. Chris Gamblegrabbed 9 rebounds as the Tigers shot 48 percent from thefield.
