McComb man killed in Sunday night accident

A McComb man is dead after a Sunday evening head-on collision inPike County, authorities said.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M Public Affairs Officer Sgt.Rusty Boyd said George Cloy, 88, of McComb, was killed when his1985 Chevrolet C010 pickup truck collided head-on with a 2002 DodgeDakota in the southbound lane of Interstate 55 at 7:38 p.m.Sunday.
Cloy was pronounced dead on the scene, he said.
Boyd said Monroe W. Parnell, 41; Barbara Parnell, 38; IreneParnell, 18; and Monroe Parnell Jr., 16; all of Kentwood, La., wereriding in the Dodge. They were all taken to Southwest MississippiRegional Center with moderate injuries.
Boyd said the Parnells were southbound on I-55, and Cloy’s vehiclewas traveling north in the southbound lane.
“It happened about 100 feet south of the 14 mile marker, so itlooks like he just got on the wrong way at the Fernwood exit andjust made it that far,” Boyd said.
The Parnells were all wearing their seat belts, though Cloy wasnot, Boyd said.
