Bears, Lady ‘Cats notch victories

The Bogue Chitto Lady ‘Cats and the West Lincoln Bears werewinners Friday in the second round off the Lincoln County RoundRobin Tournament at Loyd Star.
The Bogue Chitto girls came back to beat West Lincoln 46-43 andthe West Lincoln boys held off Bogue Chitto for a 38-31victory.
Bogue Chitto 46, West Lincoln 43
The West Lincoln girls came out to take a 12-8 lead over BogueChitto in the first quarter. Bogue Chitto came back and cut thedeficit to 23-18 at the half.
Going into the final frame, the Lady Bears led the ‘Cats 29-23.Down the stretch, Bogue Chitto outscored West Lincoln 23-14 for thecomeback win.
The ‘Cats (6-1), coached by Christi Terrell, were led by AneshiaDillon with 9 points. Scoring 8 points was Tesheon Rogers. ShelbyTobias finished with 7 00points.
Coach Lane Young’s Lady Bears (3-8) got a game-high 18 points fromTatianna Marshall. Karli Herrington finished with 6 points.
West Lincoln 38, Bogue Chitto 34
The 6-5 Bears, coached by Young, climbed out to a 14-10 lead overthe Bobcats (1-6) in the first quarter. At the half, they weredeadlocked at 16-all and at the end of the third quarter, WestLincoln and Bogue Chitto were still deadlocked at 22-all.
In the final quarter, a 16-11 run by the Bears gave them thevictory.
The West Lincoln boys were powered to the win by Jay Case, BrettRushing and Micah Bivens had 9 points apiece. Bivens led off thebackboards with 12 rebounds. Rushing followed with 6. De Pricenetted 6 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Justin London paced Bogue Chitto with 12 points. Colby Johnsonscored 8 points for first-year coach Curt Crain.
