Jimmie Rogers Thornton
Jimmie Rogers Thornton, 73, of McComb, passed away Nov. 16,2008, at the McComb Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at Jones FamilyFuneral Services in McComb with visitation again on Wednesday from10 until services at 11 a.m. at Navilla Baptist Church in McComb.The Rev. Larry Romack and Bro. Ron West will officiate. Burial willbe in the church cemetery.
Mr. Thornton was born July 26, 1935, in Franklin County. He wasthe son of the Esaw and Rhoda Johnston Thornton.
Jimmie was a member of Navilla Baptist Church. He was a retiredsmall engine mechanic and could fix anything that he really wantedto. He loved to fish, hunt and spend time outdoors, especially withhis children, grandchildren and his loving wife of 52 years.
He cared for his wife at home after she had a stroke. He hasbeen a resident at the McComb Nursing and Rehabilitation Center forthe past year, where he shared a room with his beautiful and lovingwife. He was a wonderful friend, father, husband and grandfather.He will be missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his paternalgrandparents, John Henry and Clara Thornton; his maternalgrandparents, Emmett and Mary Jane Johnston; and a brother-in-law,Steve Pistol.
He is survived by his wife, Barbra Mercier Thornton; a son, MikeThornton and wife, Dawn, of McComb; a daughter, Lisa Kepper andhusband, Andy, of Winnfield, La.; his two brothers, Clyde Thorntonand wife, Sherry, of McComb, and John Thornton and wife, Sheila, ofPensacola, Fla.; his three sisters, Mary Middleton and husband,Carey, of Magnolia, Dale Sanders, of Magnolia, and Faye Pistol, ofCollettesville, N.C.; his seven grandchildren, Alan Thornton, AmberThornton, Taylor Thornton, Kyndal Thornton, Drew Kepper, BradyKepper and Payton Kepper, along with numerous nieces andnephews.
Pallbearers will be Ivey Rimes, Jeremy Middleton, BrianMcCullough, Chris Dickerson, Will Murray, Jamie Brown and BlakeBoyd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Sharp, Donald Brown, DonnyBoyd and Jerry Kepper.
