Elizabeth Pinckney Moreton, 73, wife of James R. Moreton, passedaway peacefully in her home on Aug. 15, 2008, after a long-termillness. She was born in Louisville, Ky., to the late PembrokeThombs and Katharine Waggener Pinckney. She attended MississippiState College for Women, was a member of Faith Presbyterian Churchand Brookhaven Climbers Club, and a participant of several bridgegroups. She served as a board member of King’s Daughters Hospitaland was a supporter of the Mississippi State AlumniAssociation.

Besides her devoted husband, she is survived by her children,Katharine St. John and husband, Drew, of Lexington, Ky., DouglasPinckney Moreton and wife, Mary, of Concord, N.C., and MaryElizabeth Smallwood and husband, Bill, of Tupelo; hergrandchildren, Sarah, Lawrence and Katharine St. John, Robert andJames Thomas Moreton, and Carter and Sam Smallwood; and herbrother, Pembroke Thombs Pinckney III and wife, Thelma, ofCollierville, Tenn.

Visitation will be held at Riverwood Family Funeral Service onSunday, Aug. 17 from 5 until 7 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 18 from 3until 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home onAug. 18 at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory toFaith Presbyterian Church of Brookhaven building fund or to thelocal American Cancer Society at 1102 West Lincoln Drive,Brookhaven, MS 39601.
