Ruby S. McManus
Services for Ruby S. McManus, of Gulfport, were noon Tuesday,July 15, at Solid Rock Pentecostal Church in Brookhaven with burialin Shady Grove Cemetery in Copiah County. Riemann Family FuneralHome in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. McManus, 88, died July 13, 2008, at her residence. She wasborn in Shivers on Feb.4, 1920, to Lem and Susie Sullivan.
She was a longtime resident of the coast. During World War II,she proudly served in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps and waslater employed by Mississippi Power Company as a cashier until herretirement.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, WoodrowMcManus; her brothers, Vernon Sullivan, James Arthur Sullivan,Charlie Sullivan, William T. Sullivan, George Sullivan and the Rev.Cecil Dale Sullivan.
Survivors are a son, Kevin McManus and wife, Maureen, ofGulfport; her brothers, Johnnie Sullivan, of Gulfport, BillSullivan, of New Hebron, and the Rev. Jerry W. Sullivan, ofBrookhaven; her sisters, Ollie Mae Westmoreland, of New Hebron,Peggy Sullivan, of Brookhaven, and Lois Stegenga, of Lucedale; agrandchild, Heather Adams and husband, Chuck; a great-grandchild,Kevin Adams; and a special caregiver, Tilley Ashworth.
Ruby K. Smith
Services for Ruby K. Smith, of Hammond, La., are 1 p.m. Tuesday,July 15, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive with burial inHillcrest Church of Christ Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith, 79, died July 13, 2008, at Belle Maison Nursing Homein Hammond. She was born in Harriman, Tenn. on June 2, 1929, toJoseph Forrester and Mary Teague Forrester.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Church of Christ.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, PercyJ. Smith.
Survivors are her sons, Rodney Smith, of Albany, La., and JohnTerral Smith, of Bay St. Louis; a daughter, Crystal Bourgeois, ofAlbany; a sister, June Howard, of Harriman; her six grandchildren;and her 12 great-grandchildren.
Connie Renea Sorrels
Services for Connie Renea Sorrels, are 2 p.m. Wednesday, July16, at Gallman Baptist Church with burial in Bethel Baptist ChurchCemetery in Copiah County. Community Funeral Services is in chargeof arrangements.
Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church withfamily present at 4 p.m.
Miss Sorrels, 48, died July 12, 2008, at the University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born in Hazlehurston Dec. 27, 1960, to Billy Gene Stevens and Rachael LaisheStevens.
She was a dental assistant for Dr. Ellis for 19 years. She was amember of Gallman Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her father; her daughter, AmberKelsey Sorrels; and Donna Becerra.
Survivors are a son, Aaron Sorrels; her brothers, Ricky Stevens,Jimmy Stevens and Ray Stevens; her sisters, Kelly Barker, KimThibodeaux, Susie Odom, Crystal Stevens and Missy Stevens.
