Police pursue suspect in Friday shooting

A Brookhaven man shot in the chest Friday night has beenupgraded from critical to serious condition at University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson while Brookhaven Policecontinue efforts to locate his attacker.
Chad “Timmy” Moak was shot Friday around 8:45 p.m. by anassailant police and witnesses said he knew personally. A motivefor the shooting has still not been officially released.
Moak was transported by ambulance to King’s Daughters MedicalCenter from the A One Stop on Industrial Park Road, where it wasoriginally believed the shooting occurred. He was later airliftedto UMC.
Brookhaven Police Chief Pap Henderson said BPD has taken custody ofthe car the attacker was driving Friday night.
“We have the vehicle the suspect was driving, and that the victimwas shot in,” he said.
Henderson said contrary to statements made by witnesses at thescene of the shooting Friday night, Moak’s attacker shot himsomewhere other than the A One Stop.
Moak’s girlfriend and children were waiting for him at the gasstation after he left with his attacker. He made his way back tothe A One Stop by himself, Henderson said.
Aside from Moak, witnesses and family members identified hisshooter to police, Henderson said.
“We do know the suspect and we just need to locate him now,” hesaid. “It’s a possibility that he’s not still in the city, but weknow who we’re looking for, and he knows we know.”
Henderson said Sunday night another shooting victim was admitted tothe Emergency Room at KDMC after being transported there in aprivate vehicle. He said police are not releasing any informationon the shooting, pending further investigation.
The two shootings do not seem to be related, based on evidencegathered by BPD.
